Introducing The MobiKwik App for Mobile Phones!

Share Via:

Hello to all MobiKwik fans and users! I’m Apoorv, the new intern at MobiKwik and I’m very excited to share with you a secret project on which I’ve been working for a while.

Right now, on MobiKwik.com, you can recharge your phone via:

  • Online Recharge – Logging on to your MobiKwik account from your desktop/laptop computer.
  • SMS Recharge – By sending an SMS from your primary MobiKwik number.
  • Dial-a-Recharge – By making a phone call from your primary MobiKwik number.

Notice the limitation? You can recharge on-the-go, but only from your primary MobiKwik number. While this may not be a problem for most users, but for people with multiple numbers, this has been a source of discontent.

To remove this limitation, and to bring the MobiKwik experience to your mobile handset, today we are announcing the MobiKwik app for mobile phones!

Right now, the MobiKwik app is available only for phones that support Java apps, but will soon be available on the Android platform as well!

What You Can Do With This App
You can log into your MobiKwik account from any phone (not necessarily your primary number) and do a recharge for any number, from anywhere! All you need is a Java enabled phone, and a working GPRS/EDGE connection.

What You Can Not Do With This App
Right now, you can’t add money to your MobiKwik account (we hope to add this feature soon). You can only recharge a number if there is enough balance in your MobiKwik wallet.

How To Install The App

  1. Open the internet browser/web browser on your mobile.
  2. Go to this URL: www.mobikwik.com/app
  3. Click on the link to start the installation. Your phone should ask you for confirmation to install the app, select ‘Yes’.

That’s it! If everything goes well, the application should be installed on your phone and should be available under the ‘Applications’ or ‘Games’ menu option on your phone (depending on what kind of handset you have).

For Advanced Users
If the above installation method does not work for you, or you prefer installing it the old-fashioned way (by transferring the app to your phone from your computer via data cable or Bluetooth) then you can download the app from here.

Note: Please note that is an early test release, and we would love to hear your opinions and suggestions! If you find any bugs, please report them here (in the comments) so we can fix them and deliver a better app to you.

Can you make this available for windows phone 7? WP7 allows applications to be loaded only via Zune market place. I have a HTC HD7 (which runs on windows 7) and would definitely like this apps on my mobile.

      Hi Reeben

We are working on an Andriod app next.. We havent heard this request from

too many Windows 7 users yet so not inclined to make one soon. If you can

gather some WP7 users interested in using the MobiKwik app, we can work on

      one 🙂
